Meen Maai is an Android application that allows users to search for phone number identities using a shared Syrian database. We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with Google Play policies and applicable data protection laws. By using the application, you agree to this policy.

⚠️ Upon first launch of the application, you will be asked to consent to share your contacts. Sharing is completely optional — you can decline without any impact on app usage.

🤝 How Database Contribution Works

Meen Maai's database relies on user contributions. Here's how it works:

Upon first launch, an explicit consent request to share your contacts appears.
If you agree, only the name and number are uploaded to the database.
You can manually update your contribution at any time via the "Sync Contacts" button within the app.
If you decline, nothing will be uploaded, and you will still be able to use the app fully.
No other data besides name and number is uploaded (no photos, no groups, no email).

✅ Contribution is always optional and with your explicit consent.

🔐 Required Permissions and Their Reasons

READ_CONTACTS: To read contacts for contributing to the database with your consent.
INTERNET: To connect to the Firebase Firestore database.
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: To check for internet connectivity before querying the database.

✅ The app does not use READ_CALL_LOG and does not access call history in any way.

☁️ Firebase and Google Services

The application uses Firebase Firestore to store the database, and Firebase Analytics for anonymous usage data. All data is protected by Google's security standards.

🔒 Data Encryption and Security

All data between the app and our servers is transmitted exclusively over an encrypted connection (HTTPS/TLS) — the app refuses any unencrypted connection.
Data is stored on secure Google Cloud servers in accordance with global security standards.
The database is protected by strict security rules preventing unauthorized deletion or modification.

⏳ Data Retention

We retain data only as long as necessary for the caller ID service to function. Upon a deletion request, data is permanently removed from the database within 48 hours, and no copies are kept afterwards. Anonymous usage data is retained according to Firebase Analytics standard retention policies (maximum 14 months).

🤝 Data Sharing with Third Parties

We do not sell any data to any third party.
We do not share your data for advertising or commercial purposes.
The only exception: Firebase (Google) as a cloud service provider.
We may disclose data if required by law or competent courts.

🗑️ Data Deletion

You can request to delete your data from the database at any time by one of two methods:

Contact us via the email below, stating your number or name.
Uninstall the application to revoke all access permissions.

We will delete your data within 48 hours of the request date.

👶 Children's Protection

The application is intended for users aged 13 years or older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under this age. If we become aware of such collection, we will take immediate action.

🔄 Policy Updates

We may update this policy from time to time. You will be notified of any material changes via an in-app notification or by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the application after the update signifies your agreement to the new policy.
